Braking Cycles (formerly Transitional Youth)
Braking Cycles exists to empower young people to reclaim their stories and step into hope-filled futures. Serving youth ages 14–24 who are experiencing homelessness, poverty, or exploitation, they provide emergency and transitional housing, mentorship, and hands-on job training through their coffee shop and bike shop. Rooted in the belief that every life has dignity and worth, their team brings personal experience and relational commitment to every young person they serve. Mountainview partners with Braking Cycles through volunteering, mentorship, and advocacy because we believe that walking consistently alongside vulnerable youth is one of the most tangible ways we can live out our calling.
Portland East YoungLives
YoungLives exists to walk alongside expectant and parenting teenagers, helping them not just survive, but thrive. A division of Young Life, they've been serving teen parents since 1990 by building mentoring relationships, providing meals and childcare, and creating space for young families to encounter hope and community. Their work spans Club nights, camps, and one-on-one mentorship that meets teens right where they are at home, school, and work. Mountainview partners with YoungLives by providing space, volunteers, and childcare support, believing that investing in young families today can shift outcomes for generations to come.
Omega NW
Omega NW is a women's resource network serving the Portland area, empowering women to move from dependency to sustainability through employment, mentorship, and skill-building. Founded by Janna Kainos — who herself overcame addiction and abuse — Omega NW walks alongside women facing homelessness, incarceration, poor job history, and other barriers, offering job placement, barista training, and ongoing relational mentorship. Their mission is rooted in the belief that no woman is ever too far gone to rebuild her life, and that trusted guidance from mentors who have faced similar challenges makes all the difference. Mountainview partners with Omega NW in support of their work to bring hope and a fresh start to vulnerable women right here in our community.
Shepherd's Door
Shepherd's Door, a ministry of Portland Rescue Mission, offers long-term residential recovery for women and women with children facing homelessness or addiction. In a retreat-like setting, residents receive holistic care, including certified counseling, nursing support, life skills training, daycare, and pathways toward mother-child reunification. Operating since 2003 and 100% community-funded, they are committed to breaking the cycles of addiction, homelessness, and despair one life at a time. Mountainview partners with Shepherd's Door through volunteering, donations, and practical support joining a mission that reflects our heart to care for the most vulnerable women and families in our community.
Expand (formerly Expand NW & NWCEA)
Expand exists to encourage pastors, train disciples, and plant churches believing that an encounter with Jesus changes everything. Founded in 1956 and rooted in the Pacific Northwest, their reach now extends across the U.S., New England, Uganda, and beyond. In 2025 alone, they served 60 churches, encouraged 100 pastors, and equipped 228 leaders in discipleship training. Mountainview is proud to be a partnering church, joining a network committed to the conviction that healthy, multiplying churches are essential to reaching a world where millions have yet to hear the gospel.
Highland Elementary
Highland Elementary serves children and families in the Highland neighborhood of Gresham, where 53% of students are experiencing poverty at home. Low test scores, high absenteeism, and food insecurity are daily realities for many of these kids and Mountainview believes the local church has a role to play. We partner with Highland by providing groceries for students in need and gifts for families during the holidays through programs like Bag Buddies and the Giving Tree. It's a simple, practical expression of our belief that caring for children and families in our community starts with showing up consistently for the school right in our backyard.
No One Left Behind (NOLB)
For over 15 years, NOLB has been serving the hungry and food-insecure in our community, but food is just the beginning. Every Friday and Sunday, their team gathers to share meals, build trust, and walk alongside people in real, lasting relationships. Funded entirely through community donations and local partnerships, NOLB embodies the belief that true connection starts at the table. Their presence at Mountainview is one of the most visible expressions of our values to Belong, Grow, and Serve, and one of the easiest ways for anyone in our congregation to step in and make a difference.
